Robert J Posted September 7, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 7, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Recently I purchased a wartime leica IIIC camera with most of the vulcanite missing.Under the vulcanite the surface of the body is black anodized.My question is,when did Leitz start to do this?The body shell of my IIIB is plain aluminum under the vulcanite. luigi bertolotti Posted September 7, 2009 Share #2 Posted September 7, 2009 IIIb and IIIc bodies are completely different as manufacturing : IIIb was the last Leica to be made by bending metal sheet, IIIc was the first to use die cast technology; I seem to have never heard of black anodized bodyshell under the vulcanite, but during wartime many "strange" bodies were made...
