danmitch Posted September 5, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 5, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi All There have been a number of threads on this (and other) forums recently about starting to develop our own film, either for the first time, or after a long gap. Well, I have now joined in - a recent return to film and Leica after a gap of over a year and now processing three rolls in as many weeks after a gap of over twenty years. There are two reasons for this post; firstly to thank those who have generously contributed their thoughts and suggestions in this forum (particularly on Bill's recent post) and secondly to encourage others to do it too. It really is so much easier than I thought and I am utterly surprised with the quality of the results (some on Flickr and I will post a few to this forum too). I will never rant again about processing problems by labs. What is stopping others??? Best - Dan
Advertisement Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 Hi danmitch, Take a look here Film processing .... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
kenneth Posted September 5, 2009 Share #2 Posted September 5, 2009 I entirely agree and anyone who does not pursue home processing is missing out on a major part of the photographic process as two thirds of picture making starts after the shutter has been pressed. Do try and explore FB paper for that ultimate exhibition print look using glossy paper unglazed and dried back to back as practiced by Ansel Adams. His trilogy of books, by the way are worth searching out second hand they are as relevant today as when they were written and his explanation of the zone system is invaluable. There is an excellent website for all things darkroom and Terry is worth contacting for any of your needs Welcome to Northern Photo Electronic Services
earleygallery Posted September 5, 2009 Share #3 Posted September 5, 2009 Agree, I completely forgot just how simply B&W processing is, I even processed a film the other morning in between having breakfast and getting ready to leave for work! (I'm not a morning person at all!). I'd love to try wet printing again too, and C41 / E6....I'm going full circle.
