earleygallery Posted September 7, 2009 Share #41 Posted September 7, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Some people prefer the traditional chrome finish not just for aesthetics, but simply that is is the hardest wearing. My M2 looks like new still. Could be yet more clever marketing by Leica, release the 'new' chrome M9 in 6-12 months after the initial wave of M9 purchases...... Advertisement Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 Hi earleygallery, Take a look here M9 - black or steel/anthracite?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
bill Posted September 7, 2009 Share #42 Posted September 7, 2009 I'm really not that bothered. My M7 is black, my M2 chrome. I have chrome and black lenses. I don't subscribe to the "black = stealth" ethic, because 9 times out of 10 you, your dress and behaviour is going to be far more noticeable than the camera you happen to be wielding. Rangefound: The Invisible Man in the Street Nor do I worry too much about those who want to match their camera to their watch, or their fillings. Whatever floats your boat. My one observation on all this is that I cannot think of another manufacturer producing a high-("pro")spec camera of any variety in the market today that offers a chrome option, so why should Leica? My problem is I am almost 2 meters so I tend to be detected whatever I do ... so this summer I experienced with wearing a Panama hat in Paris. I kind of look like an American tourist so people think it is normal for me to take pictures of them or that I am just an idiot (joking). Some French people even told me in English "Pay for picture", of course I answered "Get lost" in French to their big surprise
