docmark Posted September 4, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 4, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) In fact, I just gave my M8 to my brother. I'm in no rush to get an M9, if and when it comes out. I find the threads about the Leica announcement date amusing. Seems like there's a group of people drooling over the idea of an M9. With the extra cost (to be sure), and the fact that it will be a version 1.0 of a new camera, I'd think that it would be wise to wait & see just how such a camera performs, before making any decisions. However, those with the cash will, I'm sure, fall over themselves to get to a Leica dealer if such an announcement is made, in order to have the newest, best & most expensive toy they can get. Reading your statement, I would tend to believe that you are probably part of the people that like toys ...
docmark Posted September 4, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted September 4, 2009 Sure I like toys. However, I'm also in no rush to buy a new & untested M9 with God knows how many as of yet undiscovered issues. I'll wait for the tried & true version, thank you very much! jimleicam3 Posted September 4, 2009 Share #4 Posted September 4, 2009 After the first problems with the M8, I agree with you. Even if I had the $$$$ right now, I would wait a period of time is see if any problems appear with the M9. After reading all the hype for the M9 on this forum, how long will it be before we all want the M10? That being said, if and when I can afford an M9, I will be contacting my dealer. Those that can purchase one right away, congradulations and enjoy your new cameras. Cheers, Jim
therbert Posted September 4, 2009 Share #5 Posted September 4, 2009 I have the M6 (TTL) and the M8.2. Clearly, my next M camera should be an M10.2, or at least a plain M10.
leicanut2 Posted September 6, 2009 Share #6 Posted September 6, 2009 I would think after what happened when the M8 first came out and how fast bad press was on the web and this forum about the M8, I would think they have tested this camera to the max so that there is no issues at all. And remember digital to Leica is no longer a new idea. Also have to add that there was alot of M8 sold and not everyone had trouble but the few that raised a fuss caused the bad press.
