jquimby Posted September 3, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 3, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sorry i know i saw this info some where here but I have searched the forums with no luck, searched high and low at leica's site and found nothing. If anyone knows: 1,) the US price for getting lens coded. 2.) If was there a price increase for CLA treatment? 3.) When you send it for coding do they incorporate a CLA as part of that process?? Thanks

efftee Posted September 4, 2009 Share #4 Posted September 4, 2009 Sorry I don't know US pricing141 Euro at Solms including checking your lens. Is that coding and CLA? I recently paid 340 Euros for coding and CLA, shipping and all.
hoppyman Posted September 4, 2009 Share #5 Posted September 4, 2009 Is that coding and CLA? I recently paid 340 Euros for coding and CLA, shipping and all. Best to ask Leica of course. I quoted the price told to me for coding and checking. (actually it should have been 140 EUR). Checking means that the first step after booking in your item is to examine it to determine what work needs to be performed. If Leica found that your lens needed Cleaning, Lubrication and Adjustment as well, then I would expect you would receive an estimate first, unless you authorised any extra work on the repair form sheet (please send estimate over if amount exceeds......EUR) Shipping would be additional and obviously will depend on where you are and how many items you send, etc. No need for the face, just ask Customer Service if you need a quote or estimate on anything. An out of guarantee cost for adjust focusing ring, optical adjustment M8, adjustment of all parts and test pictures was quoted at 151.60 EUR for labour. Just thought that the local agent charged me more than doubled Leica's fee. I guess is not really accurate, maybe somewhere between and ?
Ecar Posted September 4, 2009 Share #7 Posted September 4, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) FYI, two days ago Solms quoted 140 EUR for 6-bit coding and "about 350 EUR" for CLA+coding, implying that CLA is roughly 200 EUR.
j. borger Posted September 4, 2009 Share #8 Posted September 4, 2009 Price for CLA alone with Wil van Maanen is around Euro 100,- http://www.kamera-service.info/index.html And he does a very fine job with short turn-around times!
rbaron Posted September 4, 2009 Share #9 Posted September 4, 2009 I sent a 28mm Summicron to Leica US in New Jersey last week for 6 bit coding. The price is currently $175.00. The current turnaround is 3-4 weeks. I think that includes focus adjustment if needed but did not ask if that includes cleaning and lubricating. jplomley Posted September 4, 2009 Share #10 Posted September 4, 2009 I did the same for my 24 Elmarit Asph, but asked for the original mount to be returned in case they screw up the focus with the new mount. IMHO, that is the biggest worry.
Jeff S Posted September 4, 2009 Share #11 Posted September 4, 2009 I had a 35 cron coded at NJ...cost $175...and rep said that they inspect and adjust lens as needed to make sure all is working well. It came back perfectly in under 3 weeks....along with camera and 3 other lenses that got adjusted as a system. Jeff
