johnwolf Posted September 2, 2009 Share #4 Posted September 2, 2009 Some might say it would be wise to stay away another three months. Seriously, welcome back. John
sparkie Posted September 3, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted September 3, 2009 Thanks for the welcome back guys I'm still getting up to speed on everything, too many threads and rumor-mill postings on the net to read! X1 Really interested to know more about the X1. Especially dimensions - is it smaller than the DLux4? and does it have an interchangeable M-mount? From the photos shown on Filckr it looks about as compact as DLux4 body-wise, maybe a smidgen bigger. The Elmarit 24 f2.8 on it - is that fixed or is it interchangeable?!? Anyways, really curious.. its a bit like my old Leica Minilux but digital. But imagine being able to fit legacy M-lenses on this little Leica III'esk body! But I'm not so sure its interchangeable since its depth is quite narrow for the sensor plane etc.. but I'm more than wishing to be proven wrong! We'll know better next week how this shapes up against the E-P1 vs GF1 vs DP2 analysis. Any thoughts on this so far? This is a cool looking camera non-the-less. A compact M of sorts which a lot of us have been wishing for perhaps. Lose the red-dot, give us a Leica-script somewhere on the top-plate and yeah.. rock'in! M9 The M9, I guess its a major break-through if its full-frame and no need for IR filters anymore by suggestions/interpretations from the Japanese Leica site. The other thing is the dynamic range for me - I would hope this is an area which has been improved together with the obvious high ISO performance @DL4guy: have been to New Zealand, London and Australia the last few months, and with my DLux4 only 4 months old (which has proven to be a great little photograhic tool), it looks like my skinny piggy bank is again being lured out for more punishment yet again. Still, very exciting time for us all and great to see Leica surging ahead. New CEO and a new slew of image-taking possibilities
