Nicole:

I have followed your posts and know that you are and have consistently been a knowledgable and constructive ( and often humorous ) contributor to this forum. I am also certain that you were trying to inject some humor into a topic ( Leica future speculation ) that desperately needs humor.

I apologize if I over reacted.

Pete:

Many ( probably most ) historians today, view first and second world wars as a connected, causative, and continuous event rather than as discrete events. There was actually one war interrupted by a 21 year cease fire. (not counting Spain, the Rhineland, and the Sudetenland)(or China).

German historians have always viewed it this way, and most western historians have now come to this view.

As an aside, Ernst Leitz was a hero in those times, and intentionally moved all of his Jewish employees out of Germany, to Leica posts in The UK, US, France, Brazil, etc., saving most of them. It is a fascinating story.

I am curious as to your sources on this theory. While there were many many issues that carried over from I to II, from a legal and political view, these were distinct and separate conflicts. Sounds like a bit of revisionism to me.

You could certainly apply this same theory to the great depression and the current not-so-great depression. There were many similar activities and undercurrents that lead to both these events as well.

Theory and hubris are often best friends.

Scaryink:

To begin with, there was never a peace treaty legally ending WW1, merely an armistice ( as in Korea today ).

Both were largely fought with the same personnel. etc.

I would enjoy a discussion of these issues in detail, but we should pick another venue as I do not think everyone on this forum is so inclined.

Regards .... Harold

For what it's worth, there's a deal of fascinating analysis which I think does strongly support the view that the two World Wars were in effect one World War with a gap in the middle. But I think that's a minor issue. What's clearly to the fore here is the as-yet-unanswered question of which Leica Chuck Norris will be getting. To which the obvious answer must be, Any Leica He Wants.

On which topic, I direct your attention to: Chuck Norris Facts ;)

Scaryink.

If you want some light reading, this link will give you all of the details regarding the Treaty of Versailles, which was meant to have legally ended the Great War. (But the U.S. Congress refused to ratify it.) The Versailles Treaty of June 28, 1919

Nicole so just what is going on with you and the french huh? Whats your favorite perfume? Ill buy it for you. Maybe then you will have - lets say a more relaxed viewpoint. I'm just as upset as you are about the french stealing all the thunder for the new M9 and M10 SS edition.
