dpattinson Posted August 26, 2009 Share #3 Posted August 26, 2009 Not in my experience, although there seem to be a couple of different sized plugs in India. You should expect to need an adapter.
kully Posted August 26, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted August 26, 2009 Thankyou John and David, I'll take the UK dongle and buy an adapter at the airport.
footnoteblog Posted August 26, 2009 Share #5 Posted August 26, 2009 I like taking just a few of the Lewis N.Clark ones to specific countries. Saves on space weight (but in order to realize this benefit, you still need to apply this thinking to other aspects of packing too). leica007 Posted August 26, 2009 Share #6 Posted August 26, 2009 The "European type" plug (round pin ones - not the flat or rectangular US and UK respectively) will work perfectly in India.

leica007 Posted August 26, 2009 Share #8 Posted August 26, 2009 However expect the fit to be sloppy. True. But it works. I have done so with other equipments.
swamiji Posted August 26, 2009 Share #9 Posted August 26, 2009 True. But it works. I have done so with other equipments. Yes, it does, but it scares me. So I have standardized on the UK plug, picked up an Indian adapter...
dpattinson Posted August 26, 2009 Share #10 Posted August 26, 2009 The "European type" plug (round pin ones - not the flat or rectangular US and UK respectively) will work perfectly in India. I found many of the sockets seemed to require that the 'third pin' (earth I guess) was also filled. So the Euro plug wouldn't work. When it did, it was necessary to support the charger with something or it would fall out of the wall.
kully Posted August 26, 2009 Author Share #11 Posted August 26, 2009 Cheers Leica007 - that's just what I wanted to know. A little bit of engineering to keep it stable will be acceptable.
gabriel Posted August 26, 2009 Share #12 Posted August 26, 2009 In most parts of india in my experience you will find the old British 15 or 5 amp three round pin sockets and needed a special adaptor. However in some hotels you will find euro 2 pin plus earth sockets as well.
