Advertisement Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Hi dpattinson, Take a look here M8 has just become top Leica camera on Flickr. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
kalina Posted August 26, 2009 Share #2 Posted August 26, 2009 It seems to me that if Leica made more D-Lux 4's available, then the D-Lux 4 would've easily overthrown the D-Lux 3 months ago. Cost, ease of use, and portability are probably all implied factors in the chart.
wstotler Posted August 26, 2009 Share #3 Posted August 26, 2009 Thanks for sharing. I agree with Kalina--I think the key point for me was 119 users uploaded yesterday (August 25th). You can take that as an "only 119" if you like. (Very modest "install" base for the camera compared to all camera metrics on Flickr. It's to be expected, no?) That's a small enough group to know almost everyone by name--assuming 70% of them (just a guess) are "regulars." There are several Leica groups, but there 64 of us from *this* Forum in the Flickr Leica Forum group: http://www.flickr.com/groups/1032582@N25/ And here's the Leica M8 group (with 1,220 members): http://www.flickr.com/groups/leica_m8/ Thanks, Will http://www.flickr.com/photos/willstotler
dpattinson Posted August 26, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted August 26, 2009 I think the low number of users may reflect that many of the 'serious' photographers who use M8's (and other cameras too) think of Flickr as beneath them
wstotler Posted August 26, 2009 Share #5 Posted August 26, 2009 I think the low number of users may reflect that many of the 'serious' photographers who use M8's (and other cameras too) think of Flickr as beneath them I do believe there is that perception with some folks. I caught a strong whiff of that sentiment toward Flickr at Project Basho--they kept it politely in check even when slightly provoked--the bias against the service was very clear. I expected that. (I wrote about my experience here: Forensics: Project Basho Critique ) Flickr takes time. And it's a risk--a wide base of people might actually *see* your photos. I wish more people from *here* would get fired up and post there--I know way more people are shooting with the M8 than are posting. . . .
