dpstjp Posted August 26, 2009 Share #1 Posted August 26, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Mods, Could we open an M9 forum, or do you suggest renaming this one the M8/M9 forum? Might be a little premature, but the M8 will (I hope) continue to exist and continue (sadly) to have quirks that are probably not shared by the new model (if it exists). It also would mean that genuine questions on the M8 aren't swamped by the rumours on the M9. Just a thought. dpstjp
Advertisement Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Hi dpstjp, Take a look here M9 Forum?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted August 26, 2009 Share #2 Posted August 26, 2009 There IS no M9 as yet I am sure that Andreas has everything in hand for the day that the M9 is announced. I have proposed to him a "Digital Rangefinder" rename of this sub-section, as it would be very confusing to have both an M8 AND an M9 sub-section. I agree. But Andreas may feel that having an M9 sub-forum will attract more M9 users to the forum. Either way it's his call.
dpstjp Posted August 26, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted August 26, 2009 There IS no M9 as yet[/Quote] There isn't? They'd better make one quick, otherwise there's going to be a riot on this forum... I have proposed to him a "Digital Rangefinder" rename of this sub-section, as it would be very confusing to have both an M8 AND an M9 sub-section. Sounds very sensible. Nicoleica Posted August 26, 2009 Share #5 Posted August 26, 2009 I'm wondering who will write the first post complaining about there not being an M9 after 09:09:09 on 09-09-09!
andybarton Posted August 26, 2009 Share #6 Posted August 26, 2009 I agree. But Andreas may feel that having an M9 sub-forum will attract more M9 users to the forum. Either way it's his call. Absolutely, but confusion would reign if there were "My M9 works differently from my M8" threads. M8 or M9 sub-section? I am sure he will offer us a solution in a couple of week's time. marknorton Posted August 26, 2009 Share #7 Posted August 26, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) About the only recommendation I can give at this point would be for Andreas to buy some more disk space.
stunsworth Posted August 26, 2009 Share #8 Posted August 26, 2009 I'm wondering who will write the first post complaining about there not being an M9 after 09:09:09 on 09-09-09! Or the first person complaining about the M9 if it _is_ released at 09:09:09 on the 09/09/09 <grin>
jaapv Posted August 26, 2009 Share #9 Posted August 26, 2009 A separate M9 forum might be a bit unpractical for the (presumably many) users who will be shooting both m8 AND m9.
spylaw4 Posted August 26, 2009 Share #10 Posted August 26, 2009 Has anyone thought about which 09:09 timezone will be used?
stunsworth Posted August 26, 2009 Share #11 Posted August 26, 2009 Has anyone thought about which 09:09 timezone will be used? I would have thought CET would be a good bet <grin>.
andybarton Posted August 26, 2009 Share #12 Posted August 26, 2009 About the only recommendation I can give at this point would be for Andreas to buy some more disk space. He has a new server coming next week, IIRC I would anticipate a "Photokina"-type surge in traffic during that morning. The previous forum record was 1,095 users logged on at once on 22.09.2008 at 19:06. That was the S2 announcement
stunsworth Posted August 26, 2009 Share #13 Posted August 26, 2009 He has a new server coming next week, IIRC That's one for the conspiracy theorists. He 'pretends' to have a problem with the existing server so that he can get the extra disk space online in time for the M9 release.
Jeanette Posted August 26, 2009 Share #14 Posted August 26, 2009 I would have thought CET would be a good bet <grin>. I hope CEST...
Nicoleica Posted August 26, 2009 Share #15 Posted August 26, 2009 I would have thought CET would be a good bet <grin>. But the matching case will be announced at 09:09:09 Leicatime.
johnastovall Posted August 26, 2009 Share #16 Posted August 26, 2009 This is insanity! How can one even consider a forum for a camera that doesn't exist. It would make more sense to have an S1 forum at least they exist.
stunsworth Posted August 26, 2009 Share #17 Posted August 26, 2009 This is insanity! How can one even consider a forum for a camera that doesn't exist. I see it more of a discussion of what will happen when the M9 is released. It may not exist yet, but I have a feeling it will be announced on the 9th. jonoslack Posted August 26, 2009 Share #18 Posted August 26, 2009 This is insanity! How can one even consider a forum for a camera that doesn't exist.. Well, that's in interesting question - there are an awful lot of forums around for things that don't exist - everything from leprechauns to deities (even if neither of them are cameras). At least there is a chance that the M9 will exist
offshore Posted August 26, 2009 Share #19 Posted August 26, 2009 What if it's not called an M9?
adli Posted August 26, 2009 Share #20 Posted August 26, 2009 This is insanity! How can one even consider a forum for a camera that doesn't exist. There is big difference between "exists" and "not in sale yet"
