LotharZhou Posted August 20, 2009 Share #1 Posted August 20, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Today I rub my finger very gently over my M8 top plate, notice the paint or some very tiny black plastic ring segments went off from the small round digit display glass. Shootist Posted August 20, 2009 Share #2 Posted August 20, 2009 On my chrome M8 that black ring looks like it is on the bottom, underneath, the coverglass covering the shots remaining LCD. I looked at it with a lighted sensor loupe. Could be that coverglass on your M8 was installed upside down and I would think the black ring is where the glue is placed that hold the coverglass to the ring and that whole assembly, glass and ring, into the recess on the top plate. I'd check the glass is not loose. Do you have the ring? If so I'd send the camera in, along with the ring, to have it looked at and if needed fixed. After Re-reading your posts you are saying that you had a small black ring on top of the glass that now has broken into segments and one of those segments has come off so you can clearly see it? Is that correct? On mine there is not top black ring of any type. If the glass isn't loose I wouldn't worry about it. I did notice that the edge of the glass seems to be painted or somehow marked with a black substance because I can't see the chrome on the edge of the recess the glass fits into.
