john_newell Posted August 16, 2009 Share #1 Posted August 16, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Tangential to an earlier post, does anyone know anything about the history, background, use and significance of the olive drab or olive green leather? Was it an alternative standard commercial offering in brown or black, or was it only used for contracts for the Bundeswehr or US Army or other armed services? I've got a 14150 strap with rubber pad that are both clearly an olive shade rather than black or brown and I'm trying to figure out the how and why of this piece. Thank you! earleygallery Posted August 17, 2009 Share #2 Posted August 17, 2009 Sounds like you have a strap for an earlier 'safari' camera like an R3.
john_newell Posted August 17, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted August 17, 2009 I don't think so. This strap and some other Leitz leather I've got is all waaaaaay before anyone brought the R3 out.
