Srutkay74 Posted August 9, 2009 Share #1 Posted August 9, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have been using my new 75mm Summarit to take pictures of flowers and have loved the results so much that I was thinking of buying the 90mm Elmar and macro adapter. I wanted to know if you guys like the results. Thanks Scott

My personal experience: a super little lens, but the macro setup is somewhat fidgety. My Summicron 75mm serves me fine, so I do not use the 90 very much. For macro, use a DSLR! tgray Posted August 9, 2009 Share #3 Posted August 9, 2009 I rather like mine. All these comments pertain to using it on a film camera. I have a 50 Summilux and was looking for a 90. The 75 was a bit too close to 50 for me to consider (also more than I wanted to spend). The 90 Macro (without the adapter) is one of the smallest 90's out there, focuses closer than any other 90 (.77m), and has a higher reproduction ratio than most lenses. For me it's a perfect travel lens. The macro adapter is gravy on top. It gets you to 1:3. It is a bit fiddly, but its small and easy to pack. It's easy enough to throw in the bag and if you see something out there that would benefit from getting in closer, it works fine. I've had no real problems with framing, etc., though parallax issues with the background can happen, but I'm not overly concerned with that. That being said, if you want real macro, just get an SLR. It really is superior for it. I used to do bug macro stuff with my SLR and the RF is totally unsuited for that kind of stuff. If you want a nice little 90 that can extend your close up range by just a bit, then the 90 macro is great. Without the adapter you can capture something thats about 6x9 inches. With the adapter, you can do about 3x4.5 inches.
