Advertisement Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Hi vdb, Take a look here Uphill. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
pauledell Posted August 8, 2009 Share #2 Posted August 8, 2009 Virgil, As I first looked at this, I thought you may have overdone the shadows, but upon further review, I began to see the subtle details in the foreground. I think I see what you are trying to convey, but I think the foreground could be a tad lighter without changing the mood. My opinion only. You are the photographer, however, and its your right to present it as you see it. Actually, I think it a great idea. Paul
vdb Posted August 9, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted August 9, 2009 Thanks Paul. I have about 5 variations on this one as I was playing with shadows. I went with the darkest as it was the mood I was looking for. The classic 'light at the end of the tunnel'...

George James Posted August 9, 2009 Share #5 Posted August 9, 2009 Virgil, I like this image, I think it deserves to be printed larger to see all the fine detail. George

allamande Posted August 9, 2009 Share #7 Posted August 9, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I like the idea of dark uphill leading to a light filled flatland or mountain (hopefully). The diffusion of light through the scene gives the image subtle but sustained energy, urging us up the hill. Ece
vdb Posted August 10, 2009 Author Share #8 Posted August 10, 2009 Thank you for the kind comment Ece. Unfortunately not a mountain...my backyard woods....climbing a 50 foot ravine. I'd prefer a mountain;)

pauledell Posted August 17, 2009 Share #11 Posted August 17, 2009 Virgil, Upon further review, I take back my earlier comments about lighting the picture. You have made another storybook picture that really resonates. I have calibrated my monitor and it has change my perspective on this picture. roguewave Posted August 18, 2009 Share #12 Posted August 18, 2009 Virgil, not sure if this is more a nice walk in the forrest or a scary movie. Us cityfolk are a bit shy of the lack of other sentient beings.
