I found this beautiful Zorki revolver viewfinder very usefull to compose the picture when using a Tele Elmar 135mm. This viewfinder has 5 different framelines, one of them is the 135.

Plus, the 135 has 3 differents positions, one for subject at 1.5 meters, one for 3 meters and the last for infinite. This pretty well solve the parallax problem.

Except for the archeological look, It perfectly works.

Hi Enrico,

I haven't seen one of those for years. One question though - the M8 will have a field of view equivalent to just over 200mm with a 135 - is it easy to guesstimate the framing? Mind you it's got to be easier than using the M8's viewfinder!

Cheers

Mark

Me too have the Russian Revolver... and keep it with a sort of nostalgic sentiment : I bought it 33 years ago for my Zorky 4k... my first RF and the camera that convinced me to continue the RF way, of course with OTHER cameras... :). I have also the similar Zeiss Revolver, which has also the 21 frame and has a much clearer view; but of course, as Mark said, with M8 you should need a 180mm VF:time ago I looked for one, and discovered that there is the TEWE finder with 180, not difficult to find, but at the end didn't buy it: I prefer direct M8 finder and guessing with the rule of "intermediate between 90 and RF patch".

re the 135 - isn't the effective FOV closer to 180 than 200? (135 x 1.33).

re framing - I'm still VERY happy using my modified Apo Telyt which brings up the 90mm framelines. Composition takes an imaginary frame 50% between the 90mm frame and the RF patch. Works for me more easily than trying to use an external VF.

But whatever works! :)

Mark, I didn't think of that, you know I'm quite naïf when it comes to photography... :D

But experimenting with the revolver I saw that what you see in the Zorky VF is quite similar to what you get on the picture.

Anyway, Chris and Luigi are right, estimate between the 90 framelines and the patch is less of a pain since with such a lenght of lens pasing from the RF to the VF could result in a loss of the focus.

But it looks so nice on the camera...
