bussta Posted August 6, 2009 Share #1 Posted August 6, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) anyone know if it is possible to have a red dot instead of black dot on the black M8.2? Does Leica provide such a customisation or has anyone done it themselves? I have never seen one but would like a red dot on a 8.2 as I prefer it over the black dot cheers

jaapv Posted August 6, 2009 Share #2 Posted August 6, 2009 Just buy a red dot, for instance with DAG, wiggle the black one off and stick the red one on.

andybarton Posted August 6, 2009 Share #4 Posted August 6, 2009 DAG (Don Goldberg) is an independent Leica repair specialist in the US. He sells red dots. Google him - I'm sure he will be near the top
jaapv Posted August 6, 2009 Share #5 Posted August 6, 2009 Don Goldberg, a Leica repair person. You can order the red dot with Leica as well, or find one on e-bay. It is quite simple, these things are self-adhesive. To remove one can warm the dot slightly and twist with the thumb until it works loose, prise it with a couple of matchsticks, or pierce it just above the C and lift it off. carstenw Posted August 6, 2009 Share #6 Posted August 6, 2009 Any Leica dealer will have a few in their drawer. Since you are in London, try Robert White or Aperture. The black ones are hard to find, so if you can, try to preserve the one you have. The red ones are a dime a dozen and the dealer will probably just give it to you. I once swapped my red dot for a black dot by using the wood end of square matchsticks to twist the dot, first one way, then the other, back and forth until it pops off. It took me 15 minutes though... I was pushing the letters' edges.
