mikki Posted August 4, 2009 Share #1 Posted August 4, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I was looking a bit arround at eBay for the tele-elmar 135, but it appeared that there are many versions of this lens. These two interest me the most: The 'long' version with the red markings, or the newer-looking version with yellow markings: What about their optics? What should be a good price for each of them? Maybe someone knows a good site that has a summary of Leica lenses so I don't have to bother you guys each time? Thanks! eBay links removed by Mod
Advertisement Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Hi mikki, Take a look here Tele-Elmar 135 differences?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Ivar B Posted August 4, 2009 Share #2 Posted August 4, 2009 As you indeed point out, there are several versions of the Tele-Elmar 135mm lens, but optically they are all the same. Your second link shows the latest version of the lens with built in lens hood, and the first one shows one of the oldest versions with detachlable hood and knurled focusing ring. Designing an excellent 4/135 is probably a task which was fully mastered many years ago, and this is a superb lens, generally acknowledged to be only marginally behind the current and many times as expensive Apo-Telyt 3.4/135. The Tele-Elmarit 4/135 is an inexpensive lens, and for the older versions with detachable lens hood you should not have to pay more than 250-300 Euros for a lens in good condition. exile Posted August 4, 2009 Share #5 Posted August 4, 2009 Highly recommended as the longest telephoto option that does not require use of a visoflex. There is nothing to fault optically. The price is excellent.

Finnkare Posted August 4, 2009 Share #7 Posted August 4, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) A high praise from me too. I'm a bit disqualified to say this, though, since I have a spare one to sell . PM me if you're interested, so I won't put it again in the classifieds... epand56 Posted August 5, 2009 Share #8 Posted August 5, 2009 Miki, I suggest you to try it first if you can, especially if you will use it on an M8. I bought mine on eBay and when it arrived it was as new as described. Coming from a collection it was really in mint conditions but I had to send it to a service to tune it up for my M8 and this costed me some more money. Now it is spot on and a very amusing lens to use. I sometimes go out with the 135 only for street pictures.
