There have been various magnificent shots of this bridge shown here; they were the reason for me to take this route during this year's vacation trip. What should I say? This is the most impressive piece of contemporary architecture I have seen!

Hello Marcus,

I had expressed myself in the forum already once for these photographs. I find it still and also in this selection an impressing synthesis between modern trend and tradition, between nature and technology. They please me simply well.

Kind regards

Wolfgang

Great set, #3 for me too! Can you remember the name of the village?

Hi Pete,

the village's name is Millau, located on the river Tarn. I was intrigued by the scenery that shows three generations of bridges, the medieval one in the foreground (that eventually was destroyed and later served as a base for houses), the 19th century road bridge behind (which had to bear the complete southbound traffic of the region for decades), and the magnificent new highway bridge in the background.

Not only the bridge, but the long canon, the Gorges Du Tarn, are worth visiting as well!

Regards,

Marcus

thank you all for your kind comments! Personally, I also like # 3 a lot, but maybe not as a standalone pic, more as a part of a series showing the new bridge. Otherwise, the huge structure would lose its dominating character.

Marcus

Marcus, you explored the subject very well with your photos.

I like especially #3 for the harmonic contrast of the beauties of

modern high tec to old architecture, all embedded in a

great landscape. A very good photo.
