Advertisement Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Hi Guest guy_mancuso, Take a look here More Fun DMR VS M8. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
peterv Posted November 14, 2006 Share #22 Posted November 14, 2006 Although the lighter foliage may be slightly off color, I personally like it better. It's looks very 'fresh'. Peter
Guest guy_mancuso Posted November 14, 2006 Share #23 Posted November 14, 2006 Little known fact in the house shot for our fellow International friends that is a Saguaro Cactus and only grows here in the Sonoran Desert from a elevation about 800 to 2200 ft above sea level and only in certain area's. Africa may have them also from what i have been told. It takes about 75 years to grow a arm on one of them.
marknorton Posted November 14, 2006 Share #24 Posted November 14, 2006 It takes about 75 years to grow a arm on one of them. Better not prune it by accident then. LOL.
peterv Posted November 14, 2006 Share #25 Posted November 14, 2006 It's a beautifull plant. (not very 'fresh' is in 'young' I understand...)

J_Brittenson Posted November 14, 2006 Share #28 Posted November 14, 2006 Hmm, I like the cactii in the DMR shot better, since they have different hues to separate them. In the M8 shot they blend together a little too much. Could just be that the M8 shot is a little too warm and not as neutral.

paul_barker Posted November 14, 2006 Share #31 Posted November 14, 2006 Didn't know about fall wreaths. I like the cactus, I'd say send me a cutting but even if we had the climate it would die. Last time I was over in OR I bought back some cuttings and saplings of a Redwood but couldn't get them to take. No green fingers. Anyway Santa's already delivered your present! Stay away from B&H, oh and remember to take a coat .
itn Posted November 15, 2006 Share #32 Posted November 15, 2006 Guy, Thanks for posting. The difference between M8 and DMR is visible, however, apart from CCD's difference, the performance of these lenses are different. I noticed, the Summilux-M 50mm/f1.4 ASPH is really a notch above others and only conparable with Planar T* 55mm/f1.2.

Guest guy_mancuso Posted November 15, 2006 Share #34 Posted November 15, 2006 I have to say in all honesty having both systems the M lenses are just something else. I love my R glass like my 180 f2 , 19mm and 80mm but I am really geting into the M glass, man are thoses lenses sharp. When I do a full report i will have to explore that

When I do a full report i will have to explore that I just now opened this thread but that was fun. As you and I spoke about yesterday or this morning or whenever it was, the M8 needs a new profile for the 486 filters. The stocker isn't off a lot but I'm seeing certain colors where a change is needed. I plan to use one before I do the final conversions for the clients (of that wedding). In fact, different profiles for various lighting conditions would be ideal (as is true for almost all digital cameras). The great things is that once one removes the IR, he or she had removed the wild card and then successful profiling is possible. Cheers, Sean

Cheers, Sean I agree we just need to get some profiling down and were good . Actually I may use my DMR as the base to profile against . I mean i love the files from it and it is very true to life. May not be a bad idea.
rick_dykstra Posted November 15, 2006 Share #38 Posted November 15, 2006 I like the look of the M8 pics in this series. It seems to me that Leica have stuck to their modus operandi of not compromising on imaging performance just to provide convenience. IR filters are not convenient, but might end up as the price to pay for the kind of performance that's not available in other brands. Now what would be interesting would be an option offered by Leica to retrofit an additional IR filter over the sensor, eliminating the need for external filters but dumbing down the imaging performance. Easy blacks for increased fringing. Any takers?
