stevelap Posted July 30, 2009 Share #1 Posted July 30, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) British Journal of Photography - Leica store to open in Mayfair in September Another promise kept, at least. Ready for the launch of the S2. Those prices though.....ouch http://www.bjp-online.com/public/showPage.html?page=866672 (See the S2 forum for the ongoing pricing discussion). Good to see that Leica are putting in place the promised professional level support service too.
Advertisement Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 Hi stevelap, Take a look here Leica Store London. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Overgaard Posted July 30, 2009 Share #2 Posted July 30, 2009 Thanks for this. Will be interesting to see if the prices are followed up with specials for intro-packages or similar. I've quoted the Euro prices excluding VAT on http://www.overgaard.dk/leica_S2_dSLR.html
stevelap Posted July 30, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted July 30, 2009 Thanks for this. Will be interesting to see if the prices are followed up with specials for intro-packages or similar. I've quoted the Euro prices excluding VAT on leica.overgaard.dk - Thorsten Overgaard's Leica Pages - Leica S2 medium format dSLR in 35mm format size Thanks for the Euro pricing link Thorsten. As I've mentioned elsewhere people shouldn't be too surprised at the pricing, €15 - 20k was always Leica's pricing bracket iirc.
Overgaard Posted July 30, 2009 Share #4 Posted July 30, 2009 No, there's a lot of "uuh!" going on elsewhere on the forum and the net. Personally it's great timing as I'll be in London in beginning of October for a week. So I'll check out the beast there if not available locally before then. 18,000 Euro for a camera and two lenses is a chunk of money but not that frightening. What it means to me I haven't decided. I'm VERY satisfied with the R9/DMR and had the 80/1.4 almost always attached to it. After having gotten the 35-70/2.8 I use that mostly and it's been an eye-opener that 'current' Leica ASPH glass create so stellar results. And things move on. So the S2 might not be a bad next step. stevelap Posted July 30, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted July 30, 2009 Thorsten, I'm not sure those Euro prices are correct? The announced UK price for the body is £15996 (including VAT) which is £13910 excluding VAT. Therefore the Euro conversion would be €16112. Maybe the official Euro (tax free) pricing is slightly different.
Overgaard Posted July 30, 2009 Share #6 Posted July 30, 2009 Major bummer! Did think it was odd they gave Euro prices in UK but failed to check one xtra time. I've corrected it to include prices in Pounds and Euro now. Thanks!
