Very interesting Thorsten--thanks for sharing.

 

I'm shocked by how bad the colour rendition of that one bridal shot is in the shade from Lightroom. What does the shot look like if you white balance from his white shirt? It can't be that horrible, can it?

Here it is as if, with only adjustment being WB from the dress by her chest (grey dot added to point out where). So it is possible to get close to and work it out from there.

 

But as you can see, the color goes awry several places, for example the light beam on his jacket (the dress is black, nor dark blue). Basically the colors are true where the gold reflector hits which is from hip and up. Background and everything outside that needs some adjustment.

Thorsten--much better, but I still hate LR colours, espcially the magenta hands and lips... FlexColor is really so much better!

 

Anyway before you buy a different cover for your reflector, consider getting a larger one. The small circulars are really only good, IMO, for headshots, and this is one reason I use a relatively large reflector-- a California Sunbounce 4 feet by 6 feet--instead of the circular ones when I'm forced to work with direct sunlight in the background.

It works like a "sail" a lot of the time so you need an assistant or a willing member of the bridal party, but it is really exceptional for adding dimension and shape to small groups of people because you can get a relatively soft light from it...

 

All of these are merely proofs from the DMR and the 50 R Lux) at noon in July with only dappled shade (we didin't even have solid shade, and the worst light ever outside the shade :))

I like the fact that it doesn't look like I'm adding light much, but the colours are an excellent starting point for further development in PS :)

That's the one I'm thinking of, but they make a "zebra" as well. Or one can buy a gold and simply put it in the driveway and run it over some times till it gets worn in the gold (narh, I wouldn't do that, perhaps use some sand paper or other tool to fix it).

 

True that the 100 cm is too small for a full person or group. Unless on a distance, but mainly I use 60 cm or 100 cm for faces and then often the 100 cm to flow light into a room that is then further reflected by the walls.
