Leica "R" products getting harder to find in the US

Had an email message from one of the big New York City camera stores over the weekend. In it they explained that Leica USA had advised them, that they (Leica) had no idea if they would be receiving any more of the item I had ordered. Now I placed the ordered on July 12th for the 30mm leather shoulder strap. I called the store in NYC this morning and had them cancel the order. Based on what they wrote after receiving word from Leica USA , forget it. Fortunately I had found a used, like new in box, shoulder strap. The thinner model from another major store in their used department. I quickly placed an order for it and received it Friday. I had also tried to order the leather straps, no luck. Just a couple weeks earlier, I found they had the 30 mm straps in stock. I ordered two. Had the same story, no date given or anticipated for either strap. Fortunately in buying the two leather straps and the thinner one I am well accommodated. I think that shows that if something as simple as a shoulder strap can't be had. Think of all the other things.

Hi and thanks for the possible source. I'm not hunting either M or R bodies. Possibly one more fast R lens. I 'm going through the dumpsters and such for the odd ball stuff. I'm a editorial and nature photographer, now retired. As far as equipment I have a very full complement of Canon EOS, plus for medium size a Mamiya RFII with two lenses and a very comfortable bag of Pentax AF 6X4.5. I have a Canon 200 L f 1.8 with both of their extenders, basically flawless. When I started getting into Leica R, I had a dealer let me know about the Leica 105-280 f 4.2 with ROM contacts. I'm set with my Leica M's; 1 M6TTL 0.58, 2 M 7s, 0.58 and 0.72. Lenses are a 28 f 2 asph, a 35 f 2 asph, one of he "new" 50 f 2.5 and a 75 (with attached hood) f 1.4.

My R lenses and bodies are two R6.2 and one R7. Three lenses 105 -280 f 4.2,, Elmar 180 f 4 and a 90 f 2. So you can see why my interest is in the more mundane and less glamour.
