Little question to the LEICA lovers in Berlin:

I'm going to Berlin for the first time -how exciting...- in a week and of course I plan to visit some photography shops there for genuine Leica deals! The problem is, I don't know any... I thought maybe some forum members might be able to help me here...

Any recommendation will be most welcomed.

Cheers!

I visited Meister Camera in June, being an overseas tourist on my way to Solms a little later for the Forum meettings. I only speak English (well Australian!) but the staff were still accommodating. They have a large range of used Leica and it is well worth a visit. I was cheerfully given the new Super Elmar 18 to try outside and was presented with a useful English Leica catalogue too.

Absolutely worth a visit if you are in that marvellous city. Take lots of film or memory cards!

Hi, I'll give you one more address, which is not very far from Meistercamera/Fasanenstrasse and Wüstefeld/Grolmannstrasse, because they are all three in Charlottenburg/Wilmersdorf

Foto Schilling / Kantstrasse 87,

a little dusty shop with only secondhand cameras and lenses from all manufactors

and of course also Leitz/Leica. You can be lucky.

And than two more addresses which are bit farer from there,

the first one in Schöneberg:

Foto Meyer / Welserstrasse 1

This is a photoshop with professionell ambitions, because there is a photographers school, called Lette Verein in the neighbourhood. They have always one window with interesting secondhand stuff, sometimes including Leica.

The next one is in Neukölln:

Foto Braune / Karl-Marx-Strasse 7

This is a secondhand camera shop as well, with sometimes Leicastuff.

When you are in Berlin, send me a PN, if you want, maybe we can have a bear or coffee together;)

Hallo Eckart. There are several on your list that I missed when I visited. I will have to go back!

I smiled when you said "a bear or a coffee" I think you meant some excellent Berlin beer. But there are plenty of Buddy Bears in Berlin!

  • 1 month later...

Hi everyone!

I forgot yo thank you all for your help on Berlin photography shops. I think I went to them all :D,,,

Really, I went to so many of them. Finally got myself a ever ready case at Maister Camera for (only) 120 euros. I had read so many bad things about leica cases and, quite honestly, this one is just great!

Thanks again!

J.

I was in Berlin in 1956 at the British Miltary Hospital Spandau -- I was in the Royal Army Medical Corps-- I went the Berlin ZOO -- there were hardly any animals there, espeicially BEARS as they had all been eaten, but there was plenty of BEER ( Schultheiss it was called )
