enty Posted July 27, 2009 Share #1 Posted July 27, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) having received my E39 filter from Leica (for cron 50), the original lens-cap is a poor fit over the filter - clearly protruding well over the edge of the filter and undoubtedly going to get knocked off and lost. can post a snap if you want, but I'm sure many of you must have seen the similar problem on your own gear. is there a smaller lens cap made specifically for the filters? Advertisement Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Hi enty, Take a look here lens cap - poor fit with filter. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaay Posted July 29, 2009 Share #2 Posted July 29, 2009 the same is true with the filter on the 50 lux, without the filter it sits flush with the extending hood but with the uv/ir filter it protrudes over the filters edges begging to ping off and be lost! a smaller cap the size of the filters would be nice if anyone knows of one. sepiareverb Posted July 29, 2009 Share #3 Posted July 29, 2009 I just keep the hood slightly extended to bring it out flush with the cap again.
jaay Posted July 29, 2009 Share #4 Posted July 29, 2009 i was thinking that a cheap third party one closer to the dimensions of the filter would be good as then i wouldnt care about losing it! try this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/39MM-LENS-CAP-SNAP-CAP_W0QQitemZ390071772159QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLens_Accessories?hash=item5ad216e3ff&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14#ht_500wt_1179 im going to buy a cheap no-brand 46mm lens cap from ebay too. Not so easy if you have a fine old Leitz metal cap... they are very solid: I had the same problem with my classic E39 lenses... the right solution is to use a cheap plastic... pity to store in the shelf those fine old caps with velvet internal strip...
