I've been offered a couple of Metz ones, models 54 MZ 3 and 40 MZ 3I. I've been researching posts about those units, but they mainly refer to their use on M8 bodies. I'm wondering if I can actually use those models on my M6, if I would need some kind of adapter or something like that. Maybe some of you have worked with these metz models and can give me a hand. And, in that, case, what are the results like? Any good? Thanks in advance! J. PS: I also own a Mamiya 7 and a Rolleiflex, do you know if it will work with those cameras? This will impact the functionality you can use with the Metz flashs - please refer to the Metz homepage, with which adaptor you can access which functionality of those flash units: [Metz here] Personally I use an "anciant" Metz 36 CT3 only with hotshoe adaptor on a classic M6 as well as on a M8 - with automatic control . Resultas are quite satisfying but honestly I really use the flash when ISO 1250 doesn´t give a a shutterspeed fast enought... I thought of those models because of the automatic mode in which -correct me if I'm wrong- you set a certain aperture in the camera and on the flash unit and a light meter in it adjusts the amount of light necessary to light the scene. I've read about people who use them on M6 and M7 with no problem, while others talk about a fast exaustion of the camera batteries as well as a raise in temperature of the hot shoe. Does anyone know something about these? Thanks! I've been using a Nikon SB 800 on my M8's and would try it on my M7 if it wasn't in Solms for the DX reader update. Never noticed the hot shoe getting hot, or even warm, on the M8's but then I don't use flash that much. Simply most any flash will work on a M6 classic. Since the M6 Classic has no TTL, just about any Metz and adpater should work when set to Auto and the correct ASA set on the flash and focul length of the lens in use. Remember of course to use the proper shutter speed. An M6 TTL or M7 will require the correct adapter to function in the TTL mode. Metz units are very good but are in general large and I usually use mine off camera in a handle mount.-Dick Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
