HaraldL Posted July 27, 2009 Share #21 Posted July 27, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Surely the Canon ipf5100 with 12 pigment inks is a step up from the Epson 3800, but more expensive. I chose the 3800 for its well received B&W capabilty. The price difference in the Netherlands is €200.

HaraldL Posted July 27, 2009 Share #22 Posted July 27, 2009 Until relatively recently, the Canon printers used (to the best of my knowledge) dye based inks, so they were a no-no from my point of view. IPF5100 is pigment based. I came from an Epson 2400 as well. I found it's workflow easier. But with some experience on the Canon now, it works great and cheap (with roll paper). If something weird happens it takes me a lot of time to fix it. Would probably be different if I used it everyday. cheers, Harald
