Apple has just introduced an "oleophobic" ie oil resistant coating for the screen of the i-phone to reduce smearing.

Never mind about the sapphire screen. Wouldn't this be the answer to the dreaded nose grease problem with the M8 screen?

Ronald,

I have not seen or tried it, but I guess you could pop into the next Apple store and ask them to show it on an Iphone. Just ignore the funny looks when you smear your nose against the screen (or tell them you are working on new software with nose steering :D)

There are already dozens of complaints about the oleophobic coating wearing off and screen scratching, which the previous iPhones are very resistant to (both my UK and French 3G iPhones look like new, after a year of fairly hard use). Also, whereas the oleophobic coating copes reasonably well with finger grease, nose grease (nature's sun tan lotion) is a different order of magnitude. I cannot see it coping. Perhaps a forum member with a 3GS iPhone could rub their nose on the screen and let us know the results.

Perhaps I will stay with the nose bag then.
