zsero Posted July 20, 2009 Share #1 Posted July 20, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) My lovely LC1 just stopped working in the middle of a photo session. It did not fall down, did not get water or dust, it just stopped working in a random moment. Did it happen to anyone else before? Is there anything like hard-reset button for this camera? I tried different batteries, tried connecting the USB adapter, but nothing. No lights, no sign of interaction. It had it's sensor replaced a year ago and there was no problem since then. Should I take it back to the service center? No secret combination of buttons to get it back to life? Can somebody check that in what position is the shutter / apperture is set when the camera is turned off? On my camera I can see the apperture and it's set at about f/11 setting. Is it normal to see the apperture from the front?
Advertisement Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Hi zsero, Take a look here Digilux2 / LC1 does not turn on. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lesh Posted July 20, 2009 Share #2 Posted July 20, 2009 Well, I'm not being much help, and I've never looked down the lens of my LC1 when changing the aperture before now. But, I don't see any visible change at all whether the camera's on or off. But my eyes are not what they were, so I'd best try this again tomorrow in daylight. By then someone may well have given a more definitive answer, and hopefully it won't mean that my aperture ring isn't doing what it should....... Sorry to learn of your problem - I have never heard of any key combination which will "bring about a reboot."

Is it normal to see the apperture from the front? Sorry for your troubles. When my LC1 is off the aperture is stopped down to f/11 and the rear shutter curtain is closed. Your situation looks like my earlier experience with an Panasonic FZ10. I had to replace the mainboard to get it working... As far as I know there is no reset procedure for this camera. Try a different battery, or memory card, or try powering with the DC cable. Check with Panasonic service centres, but I don't think it will be a cheap repair. Which country are you at? If you decide it is too expensive to get it repaired, and if you consider selling it as-is, you can send me a private message. Good luck!.. K. lesh Posted July 20, 2009 Share #4 Posted July 20, 2009 Well it's daylight now, and I still don't see any visible difference looking into the lens while changing the aperture. Can anyone confirm if aperture changes should be visible when looking directly into the lens?
jvan01 Posted July 20, 2009 Share #5 Posted July 20, 2009 Well it's daylight now, and I still don't see any visible difference looking into the lens while changing the aperture. Can anyone confirm if aperture changes should be visible when looking directly into the lens? I'm fairly sure that the aperture is electronically controlled at the point of shutter release. i.e., you don't see the aperture physically change as you turn the ring. Thanks jvan01, that's reassuring news, based on the original post I was beginning to think I might have a problem.

elansprint72 Posted September 19, 2009 Share #8 Posted September 19, 2009 My D2 died just like yours; working one minute, nothing the next. It has been back at Leica for getting on for four weeks now. No word from them on what is wrong with it.
