I bought the grip in the beginning, used it a couple times and then sold it again.

I didn't like it and the way it felt.

I'm now using the Leicagoodies Sling that is much, much better to handle the camera with and without strap.

I used to use one on my Contax G2. I think it is a good idea but its execution is poor. The belting material is too narrow and uncomfortably hard. I got an old Hasselblad strap out of the bargain bucket at my local camera shop. This was very good quality woven nylon on the outside and dark red velvet on the inside, about 2 cm wide. I used a gasket making hole punch to make the holes and sealed them with a red hot screwdriver to stop them fraying both at the holes and the cut ends. It needed a couple of tries since the measurements had to be slightly different, as the Hassleblad strap was fractionally thicker. I had some correspondence with Lutz Konnerman (Rik Plomp's predecessor at Leica Goodies) and he said he would love to see an example. I sent one to him but heard nothing further. I think I gave my ex G2 one to someone on the forum. I found the M8, with my hands, too heavy to use the sling.

Wilson, could you post a picture of the Hasselblad strap you customized?

Enrico,

Afraid not as I gave my sling away a few years ago to another member. I had a big clear out of my photo cupboard just before I left the UK in April (under severe threats from she who must be obeyed) and I am sure that the remnants of the strap was something that would have got chucked. I don't even know if it was an original Hasselblad strap or an aftermarket item but it had the Hasselblad Logo on it in yellow and the strap had two yellow pinstripes on it. I paid about £1 for it. If you go to your local photo shop, you will often find they have a bargain bucket and the commonest thing to find in there is camera straps. Any nice quality woven nylon strap with a non slip velvet or flock lining, for the bit of the strap that goes round your neck, will do. I wanted quite a broad one, so I went for a 2cm one. It just happened to be Hasselblad. You cut it so that there is enough velvet lined bit to do the top loop and the bottom loop is in plain nylon. Usually means you can get 2 slings out of each strap so 50p each!
