Shootist Posted July 18, 2009 Share #4 Posted July 18, 2009 Sorry to say but that image, the quality of the image not the quality of the photographer, looks terrible. Is that a crop out a much larger image? I'm not sure that it looks over sharpened, just bad. Nothing seems to be in focus. nothing is clear. The headlights on the car (Jag) should be fair detailed and they appear quite soft. Not like other images I have seen from the D-L4.

farnz Posted July 19, 2009 Share #6 Posted July 19, 2009 Please don't let these (imho reasonable) criticisms discourage you from posting more photos to the appropriate Photo forum! It's the best way to learn in my view. Pete.

It's the best way to learn in my view. Pete. Absolutely. The D-Lux 4 is capable of some truly remarkable images, just look at some of the "D-Lux 4 Challenge" entries, let alone the winners - but it is not an "out of the box" camera. In my experience it is best to let it do it's thing - minimal photoshopping should be necessary - to start with, and then learn from there. Post more images - there is a whole photo forum for that! daveleo Posted July 19, 2009 Share #8 Posted July 19, 2009 yes, DL4 guy ..... i have been thinking about buying the dlux-4 for some time now. i would very much like to see your struggles as you proceed to deal with it, so please post more images *and your experiences with the camera* ..... that's how we all learn.
