padraigm Posted July 17, 2009 Share #1 Posted July 17, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi All, It appears I have a senor problem and Leica have advised me to send it in for evaluation. I am not the original owner and so no warranty. Has anyone had to pay out of pocket for a sensor replacement, and if of so how much?? Thanks

Shootist Posted July 18, 2009 Share #3 Posted July 18, 2009 If the problem is a line starting at or near a hot/dead pixel this should be covered no matter who bought or who now owns the camera. It is a well known flaw in the sensor or the electronics that are mounted to the sensor. I've had the sensors changed in both my M8's. And now that they are out of warranty if it happens again I fully expect Leica to replace it again FOC no matter when it happens.

dcuthbert Posted July 18, 2009 Share #5 Posted July 18, 2009 I've just had mine fixed by Leica, I didn't buy it but it suffered from the dreaded vertical line issue. Not only was the level of service amazing from Leica UK, they also cleaned the unit up and adjusted the rangefinder, all without a single cost to me.
