Hi from a new member!

Any suggestions for a compact tripod suitable for travel with the D-lux 4? I would use it with the DL4+filters+cable release for very low light landscape and long exposure shots of moving stuff like water, crowds, traffic, etc. Have been looking at the Manfrotto/Bogen Modo 785 SHB.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Funny, I just bought this tripod over the weekend for my DLUX-4. I think it's good for what it is and I've had a good time using it so far. I wouldn't recommend it for anything much bigger than a DLUX but all in all I have no complaints so far and it is quite inexspensive.

Suvo,

Welcome to the forum!

I've found that the Gorillapod Original works very well with the D-Lux 4 because it's very light, inexpensive, can also be shaped around objects when needed or used as a table-top tripod.

Another idea from left-field is the Stead from Leicagoodies, which is small beanbag with a non-slip covering. It can be filled with polystyrene beads, rice, cornflakes or gravel on location. It also makes a handy storage bag for travelling when not employed as a beanbag.

Pete.
