osscat Posted July 14, 2009 Share #1 Posted July 14, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Amber is a film and photography collective based in Newcastle in the North East of England - they have a fine online archive which is well worth browsing. Amongst the archive is the work of Jimmy Forsyth who recorded the changes taking place in the Scotswood Road area of Newcastle during the 1950'and 1960s. An article on the Amber website gives a brief outline of Jimmy and how he came to take the photographs, it also contains a link to some of his images. Amber Online Sadly Mr Forsyth died on 11th July aged 95. Osscat

Finnkare Posted July 15, 2009 Share #4 Posted July 15, 2009 Damn, that first picture is exactly like contemporary photographs, at least here in Finland: one or two people looking normal about in the middle of the (preferably square) picture! Contemporary pictures like those are normally uninteresting for me, but this is another thing. I'll look into it some more.
Finnkare Posted July 15, 2009 Share #5 Posted July 15, 2009 Some of those are really timeless, for example the street pictures. And why not some portraits too, if one likes the style.
sketchyhead Posted July 15, 2009 Share #6 Posted July 15, 2009 I love those pictures. The buildings, the clothes and the light, the expressions. Wonderful work and beautiful colours - look at the two little girls image, the colour is fantastic. Thanks for the link. Paul Hampson
