hey nb23

thanks for posting pics :)

darn.. now summilux 21mm .. it would get well with your noctilux ;)

I like your pics.. the contrast doesnt seem too high .. how you find contrast on m8?

That Lux look somewhat reminds me of old 35/50lux but more corrected of course. Bokeh is typical for leica, smooth .. what I've seen so far..

Yes, it's a great combo with the Noctilux and 35 lux! I'm in heaven, honest! I haven't touched my Nikon dslrs in years except for my wedding work. I kinda regret not having used the Leica M system the whole 15 years before I started, 3-4 years ago.

I asked my wife to include a M camera + lens, a bottle of Slivovitz, a Prosciutto in my Coffin, when I die. And I wasn't joking.

The contrast is excellent and yes, the more I scan the more I can see some ressemblance with the 35-50 lux lenses. I will have a solid idea once I will start wet printing the images. For now, the scanner gives a general idea on which I will not base my judgement.

Seeing this stuff with the 21 lux makes me feel unworthy to even look at one. Brilliant shots. The second shot with the stairway and the pram is well seen, so is the wedding one Riccis. I've always appreciated your work with the 21 Nenad and I'm happy to hear you got the 21lux. Look forward to seeing more in the future. :)

You shouldn't feel unworthy at all and you know that. It's extremely expensive and it's only a fast lens after all, giving more flexibility then any other 21mm.

I will post more 21mm shots as soon as I scan them... Thanks for loking.

I like that car shot :) What film was it ? Tri-X / HC-110 ?

Gabor!

No! You know my favorite all time film is Plus-x, right?:D

I went through some old negatives a few months ago and I couldn't believe the tonality and overall look on some of them. All we're shot with a Minolta system. I noticed those shots we're done on plus-x film developed in Ilfosol-S 1:14 and HP5 in Ilfosol-S also.

So this time I decided to do the same thing. And I hate when companies come out with "improved" films. I liked the old Tri-X and the old HP5. I can't judge Ilfosol-3 yet but I wanted to use Ilfosol-S... which is discontinued. Blah!

After a careful analysis of my negatives with a strong loupe, I can safely say that the 21 summilux is extraordinary in its sharpness and contrast. I am having a very difficult time differentiating the shots taken with the 21 lux and with the 35 lux asph!!!

Even the distortion which I thought wasn't well corrected is looking extremely good after a serious analysis.

I am impressed.

Ned, some good work. I would be interested in how this lens resolves at 1,4 on Adox CMS 20; I bet the tonality and detail will be smashing. Take more shots of that Orthodox Church btw.

I am impressed with 21mm work but it is too wide for me to get a mental conception of the image.

Hi!

I haven't shot CMS with it and I doubt I will in a long time. I have no projects involving CMS in mind for anytime soon. The lens is superb and sharp with excellent contrast when used wide open on the M8.

But I am not into resolution testing. The fact that it's a Leica ASPH lens out in the open market is plenty enough for me to have 100% confidence in the product. And I am not disapointed at all by what I am seeing.

Hi Ned

Ah, I was hoping. As much as cms is a film for resolution testing, the reason I like it is the way you can get wonderful impressionistic painting-like tones with it; outstanding creams and blacks. I thought your lens might do wonders with it...

I think I didn't write clearly, Ned. I am not interested in resolution testing at all. I meant more about how it resolves and described it poorly, as if it would be 'smashing'. I should have used 'painterly' or a better term yet.

That second shoot there above of the water fountains and the man is painterly, a very fine shot! The lens in terms of size -- is it as large as a summilux 75 or smaller?

I am impressed that this lens seems sharp but not harsh.

Best regards from British Columbia,

Thomas

Thomas, the lens is impressive indeed. So impressive I'm having a very hard time differentiating it from my 35 lux asph, the other lens I was shooting during the trip.

Does asph= "clinical" ? No way. It's a very sharp lens and yet it's caressing with light (the only best term I could find).

The lens is the same as a u75 lux

Very impressed with your pictures, Ned.

I was wondering how the lens feels on the camera. Especially since you do street photography and don't want your equipment too heavy and large I imagine.

I had ordered this lens and then cancelled the order because of price and weight, but your pictures make me have second thoughts.
