Some intel macs have had an annoying problem with rosetta apps refusing to open - they bounce in the dock a few times and quit. It sounds like you are getting a bit further into the app opening but it won't do any harm to try the three fixes available:

1. Open Activity Monitor in your Utilities folder, look for the process called 'translated' and kill it. Just click once on it and press the quit process button. You will have to enter your admin password.

2. Open Terminal and paste in the following to redo your prebindings:

sudo update_prebinding -root / -force

again you will have to enter an admin password.

3. Download the latest version of MainMenu (1.7 I think) and Redo Prebindings from it if Terminal is too scary.

Good luck!

Well Marc

Mine crashed when going into "TWAIN" (see previous post)

Extracting the plugin folder from CS2 allows CS2 to start up

But what am I to do without plugins ?:o

GOT THE CULPRIT : TWAIN.plugin. When I usher this gentleman out

of the plug-ins, everything works. Well, almost… As it's in

the Export/Import plugin folder, and as I do a lot of Import/Export to/from Lightroom,

this appears to be impossible now.

If this TWAIN.plugin is corrupt, where can I retrieve it from ? On eBay, used ?:D

Either it became corrupted (but if so why didn't the re-install replace it?) or perhaps another plug-in was installed that conflicts with it. I can mail you a fresh copy of the plug in if you like - it is only 40kb. But if it is the latter problem it won't help. Did you change anything in the plug-ins folder just before this began?

If you need to replace the twain driver, won't you need to know which wailway it's meant to wun on?

Sorry, very childish, but twain always make me smile :-)

Being serious for an instant, don't the twain drivers normally get installed when you install scanner software?

@chris : nothing. simply Photoshop was closed since a few days and I re-opened it yesterday. The only event that occurred is a Sandisk Extreme III card getting corrupted unreadable on my D2 and D Lux 3. I tried everything to get it readable with no avail. I just retrieved the files that were on it (uncorrupted).

@steve : I thought so, but I did not install any scanner since almost a year. Apparetnly this TWAIn thing is necessary for Import also.

HA! Digital Detective here : -)

Are you running one of the new Intel Macs? If so, I wonder if the driver just isn't supported by the Intel operating system yet? That's the trouble with Macs, you have to wait for collateral software to catch up every time they hit with something new.

You should be able to download new drivers off the internet and re-install ... but that might not work either because if you are on the new operating system.

Good luck, at least you know what it is now.
