I have now made some 10 x 8 prints and I am quite pleased with the results by the way. Let me know if you want the roll of Kodachrome if you still have not managed to find any
Advertisement Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Hi kenneth, Take a look here Competition based on Kodachrome film. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
NZDavid Posted July 9, 2009 Share #22 Posted July 9, 2009 I used to love Kodachrome. Not only is it no longer available in New Zealand, I have no idea where to send it for processing any more. The US? If so, that would make at least a week to 10 days waiting for the slow postal system each way -- probably up to two months all up! On this side of the globe it's winter and dark at 5:00pm, so the 3:00pm start time wouldn't leave a hell of a lot of time. Someone said Elite Chrome 100 is no longer available. There's plenty! I'm about to compare it to E100G.

octo Posted July 17, 2009 Share #25 Posted July 17, 2009 I called my supplier of films and I was told they would receive a small quantity of Kodachrome 64 next week - about 100 rolls - before getting a much bigger supply later. I have ordered some just now and if it can help some members, here is their email address: contact@mx2boutique.com and their phone, in France: +33-475 69 10 90 They are quite involved in trying to do something about the projected disappearance of this film. Hope this helps.

You can start shooting your roll on July 31st 12:00 (noon). The last image should be taken before Sunday August 2nd 20:14 (or 8:14pm). All times are your local times. A Kodachrome turnaround time survey was done some days ago, eight weeks should leave enough time for having the film returned and scanned. Quintych Posted July 17, 2009 Share #28 Posted July 17, 2009 When we say that the exposed must be posted by Sunday, if you are in the US, how would you show that? I plan to use Dwayne's Photo to process my film but it will not be sent to them in a preposted mailer. If we can find a way for folks like me, then I am ready to commemorate this event with a final shoot.
StS Posted July 17, 2009 Author Share #29 Posted July 17, 2009 OK, the rule has just been changed (please see also the new pdf in the post above) - Shooting will start on Friday, 31st July 2009 at noon (12:00) your local time. The exposed roll must be in the postbox (or the envelope) for sending to the lab by Sunday, 2nd August 2009 at 8:15pm (20:15) your local time latest. The term "envelope" is flexible here. Anything meant to transport the roll to the lab will do the job. Important is to have the same time frame for shooting to everyone. It shouldn't give any competitive advantage if the roll is actually shipped later. The whole competition is based on trust anyhow. The basic idea is to have some fun while paying tribute to a trusted material. Hope this helps Stefan
Quintych Posted July 17, 2009 Share #30 Posted July 17, 2009 Great, I thought the only way it would work is using the honor system. Here is to a contest to honor where it all started out. I'm looking forward to it. Don
flavio Posted July 17, 2009 Share #31 Posted July 17, 2009 hi stefan, can you confirm that the roadmap from italy should be: italy-switzerland-usa-switzerland-italy? or i can ship directly to usa? thanks again!
Doc Henry Posted July 17, 2009 Share #32 Posted July 17, 2009 Hi Stefan, It's a good idea .... just a remark, for the dispatch of the slides from USA, it depends on countries, for France 4 days on average for a letter and for a small packet as slides it is a little more it will be necessary to take into account of this delay for closing date @ Octo I know this address Are they serious and which is the price of the roll around 19 Euros a roll of 36 ? Regards Henry PS: ... and the delay from Dwaynes http://www.dwaynesphoto.com/newsite2006/customer-service.html#
StS Posted July 17, 2009 Author Share #33 Posted July 17, 2009 hi stefan, can you confirm that the roadmap from italy should be: italy-switzerland-usa-switzerland-italy? or i can ship directly to usa? thanks again! Hi Flavio, I guess you will get the same shipping envelope in your box as I have, mine mentions prepaid prepocessing is possible only, when shipped through the given mailing addresses, which are for Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Greece, France, Italia, The Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland, Finland, Sweden and UK: Kodak Photo Service SA, Case Postale, 1001 Lausanne, Switzerland (From Germany and Austria the film goes to: Entwicklungs-Sammelservice, Kodak GmbH, 70323 Stuttgart, Germany) I'm not sure, whether any lab in Europe offers direct shipping to the US - such a service won't be popular, since shipping and development would actually need to be paid twice. I would also assume Kodak knows how to ship the films forth and back with consideration. Having just opened the box - it seems Kodak ran out of red-capped film cartridges (which marked films sold with pre-paid development)....

StS Posted July 18, 2009 Author Share #38 Posted July 18, 2009 I'm afraid this is not possible. However, please feel free to share your images in the photo fora, if they comply with the rules of this forum (which, more or less, come down to the point they need to have been taken with Leica equipment). There was a date stamp, which implies the film was in Kodak's hand two days after I sent it. If you happen to pass Roma shortly after you exposed your roll, I can share a tip from a friend who comes from Rome - if you post your roll in the Vatican, there is a good chance it will travel faster. I'm not sure though, if a special stamp is required to make it travel with angel's wings Stefan
