It will show up as an .upd file Format the card in the camera Put the card in the reader and copy the .upd file from the desktop to the card., next to - not in!!- the DCIM folder
Nicoleica Posted July 2, 2009 Share #3 Posted July 2, 2009 Hi Lucy, I believe that the problem is down to you not having an SD (SDHC) card reader yet. You'll need to have one of those in order to put the file onto the card. When you buy a card reader, do make sure that it's SDHC compatible (There are still a few cheap ones around which are not.), or if you buy a card from Sandisk or Lexar, they often include one free with the card. (Check on the box when buying one.) I hope this helps.
jaapv Posted July 2, 2009 Share #4 Posted July 2, 2009 But don't use an SDHC card for updating. Just a normal SD card.!! That is smart, Nicole. It hadn't occurred to me that she would be using USB. Don't not even for downloading images. Always use a reader.

jaapv Posted July 2, 2009 Share #6 Posted July 2, 2009 Check this: Did you follow the instructions from the Leica site to the letter, including waiting? Did you use an SD card not an SDHC? Did you put the .upd file on the card, not the .zip file by mistake? Did the card show up on your computer with two icons. A folder DCIM and a file .upd? Was your battery completely full? Did the camera ask to update? Did you wait at least three seconds before pushing yes? Go through the whole process again, including unzipping the file, formatting the card and transferring the file. Nicoleica Posted July 2, 2009 Share #10 Posted July 2, 2009 I'm so happy to hear that it's all working OK now. Don't ever worry about asking a question here in the forum, there's nearly always someone around to help. And believe me, there have been a lot less bright questions asked.
