JLV Posted June 29, 2009 Share #1 Posted June 29, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all, They were ordered around april... 2 39mm and just arrived today in France. I owe one to my local Leica dealer who gave me one while I was waiting for these two. Just for information. Best regards; Jean-Luc

earleygallery Posted June 29, 2009 Share #5 Posted June 29, 2009 Is this good or bad then?
Jeff S Posted June 29, 2009 Share #6 Posted June 29, 2009 Is this good or bad then? Huh? If question is directed toward my post, I'd say neither...just stating the facts. The fact that Leica lent two used filters while backordered... very good. The fact that the free filter took so long time to arrive, and another still backordered...bad. The fact that the dealer didn't supply with me with free filters in the first place after buying an M8.2, a 50 lux asph and a 28 cron asph...abominable. Unbelivable that the dealer didn't provided free filters waiting for the Solms ones to arrive. My little shop in Montpellier did it with a used M8 and a used cron 35 IV. 5 I bought a 50 lux asph soon after. All the best, Jean-Luc
earleygallery Posted June 30, 2009 Share #8 Posted June 30, 2009 Let's have some clarity. The free filters are provided by Leica, after you register the camera post sale. The dealer is out of the loop on this although maybe they should have made some arrangement to supply stock directly to dealers, but then how many of which size etc. etc........logistically difficult. As for getting free filters with a s/h camera and lens, that was part of the deal struck with your dealer, nothing to do with the offer from Leica. Iansky Posted June 30, 2009 Share #9 Posted June 30, 2009 Thanks all - I am glad you have received yours..........alas I am stiiiiiiiiiiiil waiting here in the UK (bought the M8 end of Apr). I am afraid that by the time I get my filters, the summer will be over and I will be shooting less colour. Pleeeeease Leica, hurry up and send them. Understood, but dealers should keep a stock to take care of the situation, especially if it's a significant purchase of new gear. David Farkas, I think, posted here a while back that he always does this and thinks it's embarrassing (maybe not his word choice) when dealers don't. I agree...and unfortunately, didn't know of David at the time. Jeff
Guest Posted June 30, 2009 Share #11 Posted June 30, 2009 I ordered a 46 and a 39 about 6 weeks ago.The 46 arrived within 2 days of ordering and I was told 39 where out of stock and to expect delivery by the end of June. The 39 arrived today, the last day of June.Personally I think that level of service is OK.Leica are a relativly small business and will never be able to hold everything in stock.I have use Leica equipment for about 25 years.I have always had to wait for something ,usually the wait has been till I have had enough money Brian

The Norwegian importer haven't been able to confirm, but I am crossing my fingers. Anyone have any recomendations on good locations near Porto Vecchio? bybrett Posted July 1, 2009 Share #13 Posted July 1, 2009 I've never understood why you can't be provided with two free filters at the point of purchase?
delander † Posted July 1, 2009 Share #14 Posted July 1, 2009 When the M8 first came out there were long delays waiting for filters which was understandable since Leica had to organise a solution for perhaps thousands of cameras. More than 2 years on and now it is established that the filters are essential then perosonally I think they should arrive within a few days of ordering them from Leica. One could think that Leica are controlling inventory to keep costs down or that the M8/8.2 hase been such a success lately that it has caught them out. nickmeertens Posted July 1, 2009 Share #15 Posted July 1, 2009 Received the 39 today (needed that most:)) still awaiting the 46. Ordered them both on April 26.
kully Posted July 1, 2009 Share #16 Posted July 1, 2009 Ugh, I've also been waiting since April. Last week I just bought B+W ones from Robert White - as others have said, I hope the reason is Leica selling a lot of M8s rather than not being able to get the stock in, but it ruddy annoying! jaay Posted July 1, 2009 Share #17 Posted July 1, 2009 I was told by 2 London dealers that there's a worldwide shortage of E46 uv/ir filters!
chuckw Posted July 1, 2009 Share #18 Posted July 1, 2009 There may be a shortage of Leica branded E46 UV/IR filters but I have been able to obtain a B+W UV/IR filter in that size with no problem.
