486 filters in stock?

Good luck on that one David. The B+W 486 filters are esoteric enough, let alone 39mm filters.

I spent a couple days looking for the 39mm and 60mm filters without any luck. They are all going to be a special order from B+W, which is probably just now swamped with a special order from Leica :)

There are other hot mirror filters, but from the post here, a Tiffen version didn't seem to do as well as Guy's B+W 486. Canon also makes a hot mirror filter, but not in the sizes we need.

My suggestion at least get one big one and use some step up rings. I know the hoods won't work but at least it is something . I do have a 52mm that i used for that test with a step up 46 and 49 to 52. Maybe a 60mm would cover every lens. Your really going to have to call around . I would look at places that sell Nikons since they had the same issues apparently

Thanks for the suggestion, Guy. I'll look into that as an alternative.

Cheers, David.

I've ordered a couple of the B+W 486 filters from Adorama, but have been informed that they are back-ordered.

Get ready for a long, long, long wait. By the time your filters get here, Leica will have taken all existing M8s into the shop, retrofitted them with IR filters over the sensors and returned them to the owners.

For example, I special-ordered a 60mm B+W 4X slim design ND filter from Adorama 11 weeks ago and they still have no idea when, or if, it will arrive.
