JHAG Posted November 10, 2006 Share #2 Posted November 10, 2006 Really beautiful Pola on your site Steve Glad to discover this ! Just went for a tour after reading your sorry post about M8. PS I wonder why all those educated people on this forum (professional apart, granted, which needed the camera), bought this first batch. I learned from Apple that even great companies botch regularly their first products on a new line. Regarding Leica : first R8 had faulty electronics, first M7 had glaring flare in the finder, replaced with MP's, etc. I'll wait for the M8 vintage 2007… Best Johan

wparsonsgisnet Posted November 10, 2006 Share #5 Posted November 10, 2006 Steve, First, your pix are quite beautiful. Second, I have had no problems with my M's. I have an M4, bought used in 1970 with a 50mm f2.0 DR lens. It was CLA'd a couple of years ago for the first time (about a 40-year wait) and I have an M6 non-ttl, also bought used, about 15 years ago. I had the cocking mechanism repaired on that camera and it has functioned flawlessly since. These cameras are real work horses. I agree with you about the lenses. It IS all about the lenses. I have to say that I really like handling the cameras. But what I like best is seeing the images that they capture. I am waiting for my M8 to arrive -- soon, please -- and looking forward to putting some real glass on a digital camera. Regards,

JHAG Posted November 10, 2006 Share #8 Posted November 10, 2006 @Steve : my first PowerBook Tungsten : I changed it 4 times in a week. Every new piece was faulty : screen was deeply banding ; shell was loose around the screen ; etc. First and last time I bought a new product straight out of the line. Since then, I always wait for second generation. Our luck : second generation M8 will get on the fast lane due to these problems. Now, it's just a few weeks away
