afineman Posted June 30, 2009 Author Share #21 Posted June 30, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks Chris, Flashes on Leica's are not the worst thing in the world. In my opinion it's always best to use the lighting that is available to you, but sometimes a strobe is necessary - and in those cases it's important to know how to use one effectively. Happy shooting to all.
Advertisement Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Hi afineman, Take a look here Low Light Photography Class Online using M8. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
chris_tribble Posted June 30, 2009 Share #22 Posted June 30, 2009 Sh*t - maybe I'll have to join the class... the odd bit of bounced flash when it's needed + knowing the difference between trailing edge / leading edge sync + how to use exposure compensation's always been enough for the odd occasion when I needed to bolt extra light onto the 5D. But hey - as I advertise myself to clients as specialising in available light photography, maybe I'd be losing my USP if I started to get to clever for my own good... afineman Posted June 30, 2009 Author Share #23 Posted June 30, 2009 Chris, For what it's worth, since the primary goal of this class is to get people shooting without flash in dark situations, flash is only going to be slightly more than 1/4 of the class. So, while I would like to have as many students as possible, based on your website I think you might be better served with another class that I am hoping of offering in the future that focuses solely on effective flash use (with a single flash) or you might want to look into the Strobists classes/ meetups in your area. Bo_Lorentzen Posted June 30, 2009 Share #24 Posted June 30, 2009 Aaron, the class does look pretty interesting. not that I use flash a lot outside of studio environment, but there is always something to be said for a set assignment for the purpose of learning something new. Though, naturally I did read Chris' tutorial on available darkness photography.. which also seems to cover all the bases..
SJP Posted June 30, 2009 Share #25 Posted June 30, 2009 Low light photography class, part 1: If it is too dark to see your subject this is an indication of a shortage of photons AKA light. If there is little or no light you cannot take a photograph (writing with light). Phew that was hard work:D Please PM me for my bank account number (the one on the channels islands). All donations are welcome & I might give a cut to Andreas et al. Or not.
