johnchris Posted June 22, 2009 Share #1 Posted June 22, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) On May 4th I sent the eyepiece from my Leica telescope for repair. That was 49 days ago and I am still waiting for it's return. This is a time of year when I should be getting maximum use from my equipment, instead I am left twiddling my thumbs. I am advised that the UK is awaiting a "part" from Germany. Has any other user had the same extended wait for a repair? Is there anyone I should contact at Leica to log my dissatisfaction? Help! jaapv Posted June 22, 2009 Share #2 Posted June 22, 2009 Just surf to the German Leica site, pick up the Customer Service e-mail in the appropriate department -sports optics? and send an e-mail. On this site we only "do" cameras.
dave_d Posted June 22, 2009 Share #3 Posted June 22, 2009 It helps to be patient when you own a Leica camera too.
offshore Posted June 22, 2009 Share #4 Posted June 22, 2009 Leica "service" is an enigma at best. Last year I sent in my 21 Elmarit for a CLA and 6 bit coding. I spoke with the Leica service department in New Jersey prior to sending it in to make sure that six weeks was enough time for them to complete the job as I was going on an extended vacation and needed the lens. I actually allowed seven weeks as a little buffer as a just in case scenario arose. I contacted them after five weeks and the lens was still on the shelf but was assured it would be done the following week. It wasn't and I was told the technician who worked on them was going on vacation for five weeks. I sent an email directly to Dr. Kauffman regarding the matter and two days before I left my lens magically appeared with the 6 bit coding complete but the CLA was not. On the other hand I sent my M8 in for upgrades and it was done exactly in the two week time frame they promised. I read horror story after horror story about other M8 users not getting their M8's back for months when they sent them in for upgrades. I think that when it comes to Leica "service" you not only need to be patient but have a sense of humor. Sometimes contacting the right person also helps.
