rob_x2004 Posted November 9, 2006 Share #3 Posted November 9, 2006 Mate I have to chuckle....You getting out there and "wasting your time" taking photos rather than wading into the incessant and irritatingly verbose debate over at digital. Thanks Neal you are making my day. Thanks for perspective, keep it up. :D And nice images Neal.
richard_roma Posted November 10, 2006 Share #4 Posted November 10, 2006 Nice photo from a fellow railfan. Where was it taken?
nealf Posted November 10, 2006 Author Share #5 Posted November 10, 2006 Richard, Black River and Western yard Ringoes NJ Rob, Rather than bitc*in about the problems, go buy an IR blocking filter and go out and use the thing, it takes incredible photos !!! larry Posted November 10, 2006 Share #6 Posted November 10, 2006 Neal, It's great to see that the M8 (with a little help from the photographer) can take eye-stopping photos. After reading all the buzz in the Digital forum about its problems, it's almost a shock to see the potential. Larry

ddp Posted November 10, 2006 Share #9 Posted November 10, 2006 Neal, You may want to take some test shots against a blank white / grey wall. It appears the sensor has a number of dust spots on it in the two rail images you posted.
ddp Posted November 10, 2006 Share #10 Posted November 10, 2006 Interesting...after viewing both images on reference monitors at the office - my conclusions are this: M8 clearly looks digital, more candy-like, and a little cooler on the temp side. The film shot appears more natural to me, but is a tad bit warm. It's a pretty big gap IMHO, and ultimately up to the user as to what they prefer.
