There are some adapters on the market now to use M mount lenses on the new Panasonic G 1. Am I correct in assuming these can be used on the Digilux 3? If so, does anyone have any experience along this line? thanks a lot

Phil

The Digilux 3 is a 4/3 mount, not a micro 4/3. To use the same adapter as the G1, you'd need to stack it with a second adapter, which sounds like a very bad idea.

In a brief web search, I was unable to find a Leica M to 4/3 adapter.

You won´t find any either; it is physically impossible to make one (in any case if you want to focus on infinity, or even normal portrait distances).

The reason is that the flange distance for the Leica M mount is much shorter than that of the 4/3 mount. The micro 4/3 has about half the flange distance of the regular 4/3, so there are m4/3 adapters for just about anything.

That explains the lack of an adapter! I'm sure I knew that once upon a time, but it was obviously driven out of my brain by something newer and/or more vital.
