MP3 Posted November 9, 2006 Share #1 Posted November 9, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi fellow M8 owners, I trust Leica will smooth out all the AWB, banding and magenta cast issue. So, I would rather give them some time and enjoy my M8 in the areas of its strength. Afterall, the pictures it produce is so gorgeous. Have you folks installed your C1 LE from the M8 package? Before I install my version from Leica's enclosed CD, I had downloaded a 15 days trial from Phase One month ago and so this trial ver is just expired. So when I got my M8 pack, I uninstall the expired trial ver and then install C1 LE from M8's enclosed CD. When I open the C1 LE after installation, it just prompt me for a license key. There is no license key in any form in the pack. I just ignore the message and go on. After that, I manage to use C1 LE once and it soon turns back to expired status which forbidden me from using its full features. Has anyone of you encountered this issue yet? Or does your pack comes with a dedicated C1 LE license? Any kind advise here. Many Thanks Matthew
Advertisement Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 Hi MP3, Take a look here M8 Owners: M8 Enclosed C1 LE software license. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
blovitch Posted November 9, 2006 Share #2 Posted November 9, 2006 When I spoke to Leica UK yesterday they mentioned this issue to me. Apparently some envelopes were sent out with out licence key stickers. If suspect that if you call Leica Customer Services in your country they will issue you with a Licence Key. MP3 Posted November 9, 2006 Author Share #3 Posted November 9, 2006 Thanks Tim. I've called our greatest dealer here. They seem did not aware of that and said these CDs would not require any license key for full feature mode. I was surprised frankly... So, do you mean you got a license key sticker in your pack? Any M8 owner here got a license key sticker with their enclosed Leica-C1-LE CD? Best Matthew
carstenw Posted November 9, 2006 Share #4 Posted November 9, 2006 There is a license sticker on my CD envelope. Berlin, Germany.
MP3 Posted November 9, 2006 Author Share #5 Posted November 9, 2006 Thank you Carsten. Then I have a reason to call the dealer again. Best Matthew
ioriw Posted November 9, 2006 Share #6 Posted November 9, 2006 Oh thanks guys for bringing this up... I am away and using a small thinkpad without such fripperies as CD drives... so I mailed C1 and asked about a licence key or somesuch so I could download the M8/LE version.. anyway.. I've had no response after a week.. Im loathed to go into my dealer about this... he will have no clue what I am talking about whatsoever and I shall have to sit in a 3000 euro leather chair while besuited people pretend to know what they are talking about... sometimes I think these online forums should be required reading for some dealers iori
carstenw Posted November 9, 2006 Share #7 Posted November 9, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) One potential solution: apparently SanDisk is shipping C1LE licenses with some of their memory cards. Buying one such card, a good investment anyway, could get you a license with less hassle. People who have several licenses could also help out here. I have bought SanDisk cards recently, but didn't get any licenses, otherwise I would donate a license to this cause. I have just ordered an SD Extreme III. Maybe I will get a license there. scott kirkpatrick Posted November 10, 2006 Share #9 Posted November 10, 2006 Reading the forums from the last week it is clear that all M8 customers should have received a license for their C1, and some did not. It is Leica's problem, not C1's. If your dealer hasn't heard of it, you should insist that they find out. But as a work-around, you get 30 days free trial when you download C1 LE and another 15 days free trial when you upgrade your trial LE to a trial C1 Pro. You can also download a trial copy to a different computer. People who know how to clean their Windows registry can probably figure out how to uninstall the trial C1 so completely that the next trial download will start fresh, but that's a hack which I would not encourage. scott
sabenza Posted November 10, 2006 Share #10 Posted November 10, 2006 Sorry, may be a stupid question but where can I find the serial no./licese key/etc.? Is it printed on the Capture One LE CD or in the manual or the box? I have looked everywhere but cannot find it.
carstenw Posted November 10, 2006 Share #11 Posted November 10, 2006 It was a CF Extreme III card I bought (for my 5D), and there was still no license.
carstenw Posted November 10, 2006 Share #12 Posted November 10, 2006 There should be a sticker on the CD envelope. See the other thread about this.
ho_co Posted November 11, 2006 Share #13 Posted November 11, 2006 Brian-- Some people got the code and some didn't. In another thread someone reported today that in the UK, Leica Customer Service said solving the neglected validation code was their biggest problem at the moment. I think you'll need to contact your Leica distributor about it for a solution. Sorry. You're not alone. See the also unresolved cases in the thread http://www.leica-camera-user.com/digital-forum/8979-m8-owners-m8-enclosed-c1-le.html. --HC
grober Posted November 11, 2006 Share #14 Posted November 11, 2006 Any M8 owner here got a license key sticker with their enclosed Leica-C1-LE CD? Yup. There should be a extra sticker with the key on the outside of the little envelope holding the C1-LE CD. It's on mine. S/W not loaded yet; still reading the manual, charging the battery and testing the SD card before I insert it and the battery in the camera. After dinner we'll fire this baby up. -g
wattsy Posted November 11, 2006 Share #15 Posted November 11, 2006 You only will get the free C1 LE edition with a CF Extreme III card; not with the SD version. Michiel That's what the advertising suggests but the reality is that you get the free license with the Extreme III SD cards as well. I bought one last week and it came with a card containing the activation code.

I bought one last week and it came with a card containing the activation code. Thanks for the word, Ian! Last I checked, beginning of this week, retail outlets in the US had not yet received product that included the software. Now I know to ask about the SD cards next time I call! --HC
MP3 Posted November 11, 2006 Author Share #17 Posted November 11, 2006 I called my distributor yesterday. They admit the whole 'license sticker no in the pack' issue. They ask for my M8 serial no. and they are calling Solms for the keys. Evidently, the whole 1st patch of M8 here in HK had left out the key stickers. Meanwhile, I will try my luck for an Extreme III SD. See whether it comes with the LE. Best Matthew

If not, you (or better your dealer) will get the code out of Solms. The LE-version of C1 will give you the right to install it on 2 Computers.
