I'm taking a trip to Rome soon, planning to use both my M7 and M8 bodies. I'm having a hard time deciding how much film to bring. Is there a photo shop in central Rome that has a good stock of film should I need to buy more? I usually use Kodak film, but I'm not adverse to other manufacturers.

hi,

you will find MANY souvenir and photo shops in rome, no problem in quantity. Could be a problem in terms of quality as sometimes you can only find kodak gold...

Hi "Zeitz"....over the years my rule of thumb has always been to bring along the film I need. With less retail outlets selling film these days, do you really want to waste time looking for a store that has what you want, possibly at prices higher than what you could have paid and not sure of how long that film's been sitting on the shelf?

cheers

Hello,

a very good shop for film is called MetroImport (Metroimport New - Home page), in Via Anastasio II 438, tel: 06-39749489; very knowledgeable and kind, also ordering the films you ask for, if not available in the shop. Metro A, stop Cipro (close to the Vatican museum); this is where I order my own film.

Have a nice trip, Emanuela

Hi,

I was in Rome last spring and brought all my own film. I didn't see any place where I could have bought quality film. But I also didn't look for it because I brought it all myself. I mainly used 50 and 100 iso velvia.

I used about 2 rolls a day, your ,mileage may vary. The wife and the kids shot a lot of digital, taken off the pressure of me a bit. But I brought 4 times as much. That's still only 30 rolls.

I flew with ryan air. I had my R6, 4 lenses the film and my undies all in one bag to avoid to pay the fees for checked luggage

We had a great time.

Cheers,

Michiel Fokkema.

In the center, across from the entrance to the Cancelleria, just off of Campo di Fiori. They will have everything you need if anyone does. They're closed for a couple of hours at lunch, closed on Sundays, and open in the mornings on Saturdays, if I remember correctly. Here it is
