yanidel Posted June 14, 2009 Share #1 Posted June 14, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) While researching this lens, I was surprised to see how few samples I could find of this lens used on the M8. But I bought one yesterday (thanks to a member) and here is a little slideshow of its first day out for those who wonder how the M8 + Hexanon work out. Street Photography in Paris Blog Archive Slideshow : Grand Prix de Diane (click on picture to launch) First impressions is that it is a great match for the M8 in terms of weight and balance. Fast to focus though the very thin DOF is challenging at times wide open.
Advertisement Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 Hi yanidel, Take a look here M8 + 60mm Hexanon 1.2 at the horse race. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
nugat Posted June 14, 2009 Share #2 Posted June 14, 2009 Great lens. I use it on Epson RD1 for portraits (FF equivalent 90mm). Difficult to focus at 1.2 on RD1 but once you hit it (left or right eye!) nothing equals.

davidriver Posted June 15, 2009 Share #4 Posted June 15, 2009 Beautiful beautiful shots! I especially loved the tonality. What post-processing did you do, if you don't mind sharing? LukaK Posted June 16, 2009 Share #7 Posted June 16, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm glad this thread came up - I've been offered a 60mm 1.2 hexanon limited as a trade for an old m7 body I'm selling. Is it a fair deal?
nugat Posted June 16, 2009 Share #8 Posted June 16, 2009 I'm glad this thread came up - I've been offered a 60mm 1.2 hexanon limited as a trade for an old m7 body I'm selling. Is it a fair deal? The current ebay prices for the 60mm hex are 2400-2800$. If you can find one--only 600 were manufactured.

yanidel Posted June 16, 2009 Author Share #10 Posted June 16, 2009 thanks all. To answer the questions, post-processing is a mix of desaturations, blacks, vignetting and selecting colors to emphasizes depending on the picture. In euros terms, a mint 60mm is going for €1600-€1900. They don't appear often as few have been produced (800 is the exact number). It is different than the 50mm Hexanon 1.2 in terms of size, the 60mm is smaller. I had tried the Noctilux and 75 Lux on the M8 and I feel this lens is a good compromise for those who don't want to own the two. You get some characteristics of both lenses and the equivalent FOV of 85mm is close enough to a classic 90mm. What I especially like is that it fits perfectly the 50mm framelines of the M8 (non upgraded). Finally, the pictures weren't taken with the white M8 as suggested above, I did not want to distract attention from my hat
wilfredo Posted August 28, 2009 Share #11 Posted August 28, 2009 I didn't even know this lens existed. Looks like a winner.
chris_tribble Posted August 28, 2009 Share #12 Posted August 28, 2009 Lovely work - and a lesson to us all of the value of well controlled post-processing! Thanks for sharing...
NonFiction Posted August 29, 2009 Share #13 Posted August 29, 2009 Really great photos of the event--spontaneous and considered at once. And the processing and presentation only complement the good work. Thanks! Looking at the quality and consistency of the work, I think this would have been a great take even if he'd used a first generation digital Rebel and kit lens. Not to flog a dead horse, of course, of course.

As for the lens, the OOF rendering reminds me of one of my Nikkor 50's, and I can't say I like it too much, but that's me. There are so many good photos there, and I wouldn't know where to start to comment the people shots. There is one shot, number 15, of the horses running, I love that one! kameraguy Posted August 29, 2009 Share #15 Posted August 29, 2009 Aside from the lens and post processing, also wanted to give kudos to the photographer who put it all to good use. Yanidel, loved this presentation. Great eye and coverage, thoroughly enjoyed this
