roguewave Posted June 22, 2009 Share #5 Posted June 22, 2009 Great stuff. Thanks for the link. I remember about a year ago that some member of the forum was putting together an online & print magazine devoted to B&W. I can't remember my name, no less his. rob_x2004 Posted June 22, 2009 Share #6 Posted June 22, 2009 Ben was it Marc Antony? http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/members/mark-antony.html I am also getting these odd twinges of recognition.
MPerson Posted June 22, 2009 Author Share #7 Posted June 22, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Rob - no, it wasn't Marc. This was a forum member, floated the idea, got some response and did set up the site with some articles from a couple of forum members. I cannot remember who it was either but I did read the site for awhile and thought I had bookmarked it but alas I cannot find it. Bummer, now I have an itch...... peter_n Posted June 22, 2009 Share #8 Posted June 22, 2009 Wow that was quick! Black+White Photography arrived in the Colonies today! The Paul Anthony pictures are excellent and I've seen the one of the birds and the boy at the table before - maybe at a gallery in London?
gigibond Posted June 23, 2009 Share #9 Posted June 23, 2009 I really enjoy B&W magazine they do a good job. I pick them up when i go to the book store now and then. This could be a little OT, but... I am a B&W subscriber. It is a quality magazine, however the last special issue (portfolio contest 2008) really disappointed me. There are some HDR photo; I hate HDR, and it is really diffuclt for me to accept that a collectors/fine art black & white magazine simply considers HDR photos... I would appreciate your thoughts my friends.... bye

andybarton Posted June 23, 2009 Share #11 Posted June 23, 2009 There is a US magazine of the same name, so there is some confusion. IIRC, Borders sell both versions - I might have a look on the way home tonight, if this storm abates. I do enjoy reading the UK version, I have to say. peter_n Posted June 23, 2009 Share #12 Posted June 23, 2009 It is confusing but the UK mag have changed their name, replacing the ampersand with a plus, so it is now called Black+White Photography. Not so sure it is a good move as no one seems to realize that the filters are branded B+W and not B&W...
Ted Lemon Posted June 24, 2009 Share #13 Posted June 24, 2009 I subscribe to both US and UK B&W mags - the US one (which I have advertised in) is aimed at photo collectors the UK one is aimed at photography users. Different markets - but the US B&W has great single image and portfolio competitions.

I end up buying the B&Ws from both sides of the Atlantic.
