Nicoleica Posted June 9, 2009 Share #21 Posted June 9, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I think the Passport Warranty is voided at 1,000c... Ooo! That's good to hear, I thought it was only 451F, like most other written warranties.
Advertisement Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Hi Nicoleica, Take a look here Screen protectors on M8. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
sfokevin Posted June 9, 2009 Share #22 Posted June 9, 2009 I have the sapphire upgrade and not a scuff... I wish there was a little wiper like on my car headlights to remove the nose gunk... Maybe I'll add that to the M8.u upgrade wish thread...
AlanJW Posted June 10, 2009 Share #23 Posted June 10, 2009 Giottos optical glass for me. Extremely thin. I didn't like the plastic protectors as I find they all reduce clarity even if not by much. My preference is glass. Since I've had one break from something hitting it, I have to assume I've already saved myself one expensive screen replacement. offshore Posted June 10, 2009 Share #24 Posted June 10, 2009 Giottos optical glass for me. Extremely thin. I didn't like the plastic protectors as I find they all reduce clarity even if not by much. My preference is glass. Since I've had one break from something hitting it, I have to assume I've already saved myself one expensive screen replacement. I had a Giottos on my M8 for about a year and found it to be too dark even with the screen on full. It seemed to be sturdy as it took a couple of hits that I thought would break it with no problem. One day I put it in my pack and went hiking and when I took the camera out the Giotto was broken. Couldn't figure out why as there wasn't anything in the pack except the camera and my lunch so I'd have to blame it on a sandwich, a banana or an apple. I bought a protector off eBay at 1/3 the cost of the Giottos and it is much brighter. I'll have to submit it to the lunch test to see how it holds up and get back to you. jaay Posted June 10, 2009 Share #25 Posted June 10, 2009 The screen patronus is excellent. You get six for about $10. It's hardly noticable once on and doesn't use any messy adhesive.
skimmel Posted June 10, 2009 Share #26 Posted June 10, 2009 I went thru numerous protectors and they all came off after a few days to week of use (usually pulled off when putting in my camera bag). About 6 months ago I got the invisibleSHIELD and it has worked great. No bubbles, no peeled edges. Now, I've never tried to peel it off, but I have no reason to since it works so well. ampguy Posted June 11, 2009 Share #30 Posted June 11, 2009 I have some of these, but haven't put them on, have heard they attach very strongly, and might have problems when removing. Take care when removing them, and any feedback would be appreciated. beamon Posted June 11, 2009 Share #31 Posted June 11, 2009 I'm glad to have the sapphire glass over the LCD on my M8.2. If I had an M8, I would go for the upgrades to get it. Over time, it is nice to merely direct a huff of breath to the screen and use whatever cloth is at hand to clean the latest 'nosejob' from the surface, with no fear of scratching it. The only downside to sapphire is that if struck sharply on a hard surface it can shatter. NASA, when testing wristwatches, specified that the watch must have an acrylic crystal so that shards of glass floating around in the cabin of the spacecraft or in space, itself, would not be a problem. The Omega Speedmaster Pro was the survivor of NASA's tests and has such a crystal to this day.
lars_bergquist Posted June 12, 2009 Share #32 Posted June 12, 2009 The best screen protector that I know of is a Luigi Crescenzi half-case. Get one. The old man from the Age of Hand-Stitched Saddlery
