I still wonder if Leica have any further interest in the FourThirds/Panasonic tie-up. Panasonic hinted a while back that they did, I seem to remember, but I don't recall Leica themselves saying anything recently.

Hope that Leica will use a 43 sized sensor on the DLux 5 :D

Olympus Micro Four Thirds camera resembles 1959 'Pen' news - Amateur Photographer - news, camera reviews, lens reviews, camera equipment guides, photography courses, competitions, photography forums

This might be of interest to some. Still just a rumour at the moment, but an Oly micro4/3rds camera is officially only "weeks" away according to the Olympus website.

Don't know if this has been posted here yet but here's a link to another Japanese website reg the Oly ¹ØÓÚOLYMPUSµÄM4/3»úE-P1 - ÎÞ¼ÉÂÛ̳.

Leica has stated unofficially (Leica reps/Oly reps) that they are having nothing more to do with 4/3's and that they eventually want to break away from Panasonic and become a German company again. It will be interesting to see if they can do that given the royaties they must be collecting from Panasonic to use the Leica name.

A retro style digicam, albeit with interchangeable lenses.

No optical finder - hot shoe so OK you can add a finder but then its not so compact......isn't a G1 more practical if M43 is the way you want to go?

Not very exciting for me anyway.

It's here:

Olympus - PEN

17 (34)mm & 14-42(28-84)mm lenses. No built in VF but an accessory optical VF available, likewise for flash. AF and MF (+MF assist). RAW and JPEG. 3.0" lcd monitor. Auto and manual WB. ISO 100-6400. Built-in IS. A plethora of other, more P&S like features too, of course.

A few more features are: 12.3mpx. Adapter for 4/3rds lenses. HD video with sound. The accessory VF is for 17mm only. No built-in flash, so either accessory VF or flash (both mount via hot-shoe) but not both at the same time.
